Lapis Lady
Lapis Lady - This is
a checkered blue butterfly that belongs in a family of gossamer winged
butterflies. Gossamer winged butterflies
are generally small and their wings are seem delicate and glisten.
Blue is the scarcest color in nature. Plants have no blue pigments, actually the
blue you do see in nature is not a pigment at all!
Animals that display blue color is due to the way the
molecules are structured and how they interact with light. The molecules are shaped is such a way that
it bends the light to a specific wavelength when it reaches our eye that we see
blue. Change the shape or what is
filling the space between them and we would see something different. Blue feathers and even our blue eyes all have
to due with the refraction of light.
There is only one exception of a true blue occurring in nature and that
is the Obrina Olivewing butterfly and it is said that less than 10% of 280,000
species of flowering plants produce blue flowers, and those plants are not using a blue pigment but a red
pigment. It takes the mixing of pigments, ph levels and light refraction that
creates the color blue. As a matter of
fact bluebells, morning glories and even hydrangeas have no true blue pigment!
The butterfly as I have mentioned symbolizes a person’s
soul.
In ancient Greek the
word for butterfly is "Psyche", which translated means
"soul". Psyche is the Greek
Goddess of souls 🧚♂️. Butterflies are
believed to represent one’s essence that encompasses their past, present and
future. They also represent good luck
and joy. Butterflies are believed to be
grantors of wishes. Setting a butterfly
free you are to place a wish on their wings and they will carry that wish to
the heavens to be granted.
The butterfly is the Celtic Zodiac for those born between
September 30th thru October 27th. Those
born under this sign are said to be extremely social hence the phrase, “Social
Butterfly”. They are known to have a
joyful personality and a cheery disposition.
They are intuitively empathetic and people are drawn to their positive
aura.
The Mandarin Chinese word for butterfly is
"hu-tieh". "Tieh" means "70 years", therefore
butterflies have become a symbol for a long life.

Party Of Eight
Purchase in Iphone Samsung phone cover
As many of you know I am a self-proclaimed nature nerd and
one of the things I do during the summer time is raise and release monarch
butterflies. Two years ago I did several live videos of their release. I have
an extensive butterfly garden with milk weed for the monarchs and other host
plants for several of my favorite butterflies. I also have numerous nectar
plants for my hummingbirds, butterflies and bees that I love so!
I have released over 50 butterflies so far this year. In
this photo you will find a “Party Of Eight” that I released the other day. I
have finally started to list some of my traditional photos on Etsy. This image
is currently available on a 10x8 canvas and I can put it on just about anything
you like from a print on demand partner, or on the products that I print which
include suncatchers, jewelry, boxes, trivets and coasters.

Periwinkle Parade
👀NEW DESIGN👀
Periwinkle Parade ️
– This is a “Melissa Blue” butterfly, obviously one that I am particularly fond
of 😉 ! Melissa Blue is her higher classification
the lower classification being a Karner Blue. They are a teensy little
butterfly that sadly is endangered in my region of the U.S. Their “host plant”
where eggs will be laid and will feed the larvae is the lupine if you would
like to encourage more to your yard!

Perky Persona
👀NEW DESIGN👀
Perky Persona
The yellow tulip and one time symbolized being hopelessly in
love but has transitioned and now embodies cheerful thoughts and sunshine. The
popular variegated tulip symbolize beautiful eyes. It is said the velvet black
center of the tulip represents a lover’s heart.
Tulips symbolize flawless love. The meaning comes from a
Turkish legend of a Princess and commoner who fall in love, and of course as
these stories usually go, her father, the king, does not approve and demands
the commoner prove his love and worthiness by building an enormous canal. It
takes him several years to complete and when he is digging the final touches to
the canal the king lies to him and says the princess has passed. The man is so
distraught he takes his own life. The princess learns of this tragedy and goes
to the canal where her love to his life and takes her own to be with him. Red
tulips began to grow where their blood soaked the ground.
We often refer to tulips as “Dutch Tulips” but they actually
derive from Persia and Turkey. The word tulip actually translates to turban.
The flowers were worn in turbans Europeans by mistake called the flowers tulips
(turbans).
Did you know this delightful bulb was once the cause of what
economist say was the first economic bubble in Holland? The tulips were so
desired they were bought at prices 10 times their worth! Then soon the market
was flooded with them and they were no longer sought out as passionately and
the prices bottomed out and there was a market crash of sorts.
Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and
Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.

This is the
second and last of my lily of the valley designs. I hope you can see the
differences, it is hard for me to pick a favorite for sure. Next week another
tulip design!
Modest Maia
(pronounced My Ya) – this is a bouquet of lily of the valley flowers and
muscari (grape hyacinths)
Maia is the
beloved, modest, tenderhearted Greek Earth Goddess of spring, warmth and
fruition. She is one of the stars in the constellation Pleiades also known as
the seven sisters. She was so beloved the month of May is named after her and
it is beloved that the lily of the valley flower was created in her honor.
Maia, like myself, is more comfortable in the wilderness away for the
complications and commotion of society.
The Lily of the
valley has been associated with many symbolisms the most prominent is “return
to happiness. This delicate fragrant flower is strongly associated with
chastity, purity, joy, luck and modesty. This modest and pure flower is
mentioned in the bible 15 times, is embodied in Christian lore and folklore,
May Day (May 1st which happens to be my birthday), weddings and many other
celebrations. Speaking of weddings British royals brides have had this beloved
flower in their bouquet including Princess Eugenie, The Duchess of Sussex Megan
Markle, The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cornwall and of
course Princess Diana.
The lily of the
valley is known as the flower of the fairies and the tiny bells are used as
cups. This delicate flower is planted to protect your gardens from evil spirits
and is a charm to ward off witches’ spells.
The muscari like
the lily of the valley is a delicate flower but is a symbol of supremacy and
confidence, and also represents mystery and imagination. The Greeks eat them
pickled as they are an excellent source of vitamin C and high in antioxidants.
Please do not try this yourself! Blue hyacinths symbolize sincerity, and in
Christian faith it is a symbol of wisdom and harmony. Look closely to find them
depicted in religious artwork!
The muscari is
indigenous to Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. This flower is synonymous with the
Greek Goddess Demeter, protector of women so this flower was often interlaced
in bridal circlets.

A NEW DESIGN! This is a popular flower in my designs and I
wanted a design that incorporated both the blue and the pink forget me
not. I will have another design that I
created from the same photo but a different symmetry.
Indelible Impression - The Forget-Me-Not
flower represents true faithful love, fond memories and hope. It is also a flower essence of the heart
chakra.
The dainty forget me not was also a
favorite flower of Princess Diana. Earl
Spenser, Diana’s brother, gifted her these flowers when they were young and she
continued to favorite them throughout her life.
These flowers have been subtle tributes to the “Queen of Hearts”, in royal
wedding bouquets and backgrounds in photos.
These flowers are included in the Kensington memorial garden for this
beloved princess.
In Christian folklore God named these
dainty blue beauties forget me nots because when he asked the timid flower her
name, she was so shy that she told him softly whispered, “I have
forgotten” God named these flowers
forget me not so she and no one would forget this delicate beautiful flower.
Medieval German folklore declares that
devoted couples garnished themselves with forget-me-nots to pledge they would never
forget each other when separated.
There is another German legend on how
this flower received it’s name. God had
completed the creation of earth, He named each animal and plant. God had thought He had named everything when
a diminutive voice next to where He was standing asked, “What about me?” He kneeled down and held the sweet, delicate
and dainty plant and said, “I shall never forget you again therefore your name
shall be Forget Me Not”
There is a third German myth about a
couple taking a romantic stroll along the Danube River. They spot the beautiful blue blooms of the
forget-me-not. The handsome and romantic
gent attempts to pick a bouquet for his love, but tragically slips and is swept
away by the river’s fierce current. As
he is carried away by the current he cries out to her, “Forget me not my
love!” It is believed this is how the
flower was named.
Twentieth century German Freemasons
replaced the square and compass symbol with the forget me not to avoid
revealing themselves to the Nazis. You
can still see the forget me not used in combination with the square and compass
insignia. It also signified to always
remember of the impoverished.
King Henry the IV, banished in 1398, embraced
the forget me not as his crest and axiom.
The flower and name were embellished on his knight’s collars and to show
support of him his followers adorned them as well. Legend has it that in the aftermath of the
clash at Waterloo left a blood saturated field which metamorphosed into a field
of forget me nots.
The war dead are memorialized with
forget me nots in Newfoundland.
Symmetry is another manifestation of
the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.

Quintessentially Quaint
After and before
👀NEW DESIGN👀
Quintessentially Quaint -
Hummer fun facts:
They can flap their wings over 100 times a minute hovering
in mid-air, fly sideways, diagonally and even upside down!
The hummer has been clocked at speeds of 35mph (54km/hr) and their diving speeds have been clocked at 49mph (79km/hr)
Hummers are no fools when it comes to finding fine dining! They have a delicate pallet and can easily tell which flowers hold the riches nectar! These selective birds will not waste their time on low producing or poor nutrient nectar flowers.
Hummers are only found in the North and South America. During the winter months they fly south and live is the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.
Hummingbirds have a long history of folklore and symbolism in native cultures. The Aztecs saw them as messengers between them and their ancestors or the gods. In Native American culture, hummingbirds are seen as healers and bringers of love, good luck and joy.
The overall symbolism of the hummingbird is joy. In animal totems the hummingbird is a
powerful symbol of life and joy, because of their ability to hover hummers are
often thought to be reminders that life is meant to be savored, their tireless
activity symbolizes perseverance and because hummingbirds do not simply flap
their wings up and down, but instead move them in the pattern of the infinity
symbol, or a figure eight, they are often thought to symbolize eternity and
everlasting life and remind us to seek out the magic in life

AFTER AND BEFORE
I have been digging through my library of photos and found
this lovely piece I have been wanting to use in a design! This is a tiger
swallowtail butterfly on an orange tiger lily. I hope this brings some cheer to
your day! Wishing you all health, happiness and oceans of love and laughter!
Festival - Tiger lilies symbolize confidence, wealth,
positivity and pride.
The butterfly is the Celtic Zodiac for those born between

If a butterfly crosses your path, it means good luck.
In the Japanese culture butterflies are thought to be
representative of young maidens and marital bliss.
In ancient Greek the word for butterfly is

Poetic Poise
👀NEW DESIGN👀
Poetic Poise - The Swan is a symbol of purity, beauty, grace, love and elegance.
The swan is an attentive and extremely protective mother. In some cultures the swan is a symbol of the motherly love and motherhood.
Fun facts about swans:
Trumpeter swans, like the ones on my lake, are massive birds, being the heftiest bird to take the skies in North America and can fly up to 60 miles per hour.
Swans form the legendary heart ❤️ symbol with their necks while performing their mating ritual. They will face each other, fluff up their feathers, lift their wings, and then bow their head and necks creating romantic pose and forming the much adored heart shape. Romantic looking absolutely romantic sounding, well not so much, there are quite noisy.
🎶
Swan Song Fact or Fiction - It is a myth, per ritual above, that swans only
sing when dying, the popular “swan’s song” is a based only on poetic license.
The trumpeter swans here in North America actually have a coiled windpipe and
they make the loud and easily identifiable ‘HONKING’ sound.
