Forever In My Heart – bleeding hearts and forget me nots on a bed of ferns.

The Forget-Me-Not flower represents true faithful love, fond memories and hope. It is also a flower essence of the heart chakra

The dainty forget me not was also a favorite flower of Princess Diana. Earl Spenser, Diana’s brother, gifted her these flowers when they were young and she continued to favorite them throughout her life. These flowers have been subtle tributes to the “Queen of Hearts”, in royal wedding bouquets and backgrounds in photos. These flowers are included in the Kensington memorial garden for this beloved princess.

In Christian folklore God named these dainty blue beauties forget me nots because when he asked the timid flower her name, she was so shy that she told him softly whispered, “I have forgotten” God named these flowers forget me not so she and no one would forget this delicate beautiful flower.

Medieval German folklore declares that devoted couples garnished themselves with forget-me-nots to pledge they would never forget each other when separated.

There is another German legend on how this flower received it’s name. God had completed the creation of earth, He named each animal and plant. God had thought He had named everything when a diminutive voice next to where He was standing asked, “What about me?” He knelt down and held the sweet, delicate and dainty plant and said, “I shall never forget you again therefore your name shall be Forget Me Not”

There is a third German myth about a couple taking a romantic stroll along the Danube River. They spot the beautiful blue blooms of the forget-me-not. The handsome and romantic gent attempts to pick a bouquet for his love, but tragically slips and is swept away by the river’s fierce current. As he is carried away by the current he cries out to her, “Forget me not my love!” It is believed this is how the flower was named.

Twentieth century German Freemasons replaced the square and compass symbol with the forget me not to avoid revealing themselves to the Nazis. You can still see the forget me not used in combination with the square and compass insignia. It also signified to always remember of the impoverished.

King Henry the IV, banished in 1398, embraced the forget me not as his crest and axiom. The flower and name were embellished on his knight’s collars and to show support of him his followers adorned them as well.

Legend has it that in the aftermath of the clash at Waterloo left a blood saturated field which metamorphosed into a field of forget me nots.

The war dead are memorialized with forget me nots in Newfoundland.

LOST AND FOUND!  I found this design in my files that apparently I have never shared!  I hope this brings some sunshine and happiness to you day!

Daisy Dawn - A Daisy symbolizes innocence and purity. It can also symbolize new beginnings. The flower meaning of daisy is “loyal love”and “I will never tell”. The daisy is also the birth flower for April.

The word daisy comes from the Old English word dægeseage, meaning "day's eye".   The daisy was thusly named because at night the petals close over the yellow center and during the day they re-open or “awaken”.  This is how the fun saying “as fresh as a daisy” was created; it infers that someone had a restful sleep.

The daisy is the sacred flower of the Norse Goddess of love, beauty and fertility, Freya.  The daisy embodies childbirth, motherhood and new beginnings.

The daisy is actually two flowers in one, called a composite flower.  The yellow center is called the disc floret and the outer petals are the ray floret.  Because they are actually two flower in one, blending it such beautiful harmony the also symbolize true love!

The columbine has many meanings from love, desire, faith, winning and foolishness.

The columbine flower symbolizes love and is associated with the ancient Greeks and Roman goddess of love Aphrodite/Venus, the goddesses of love. It is also connected with the Norse goddess of love Freya. It is said in Swedish folklore that the blossoms were made into potion and given to arouse brides on their wedding night.

In Celtic legend the columbines were a portal from the spiritual world to this world.

Austrians associate the columbine with five doves in a circle because that is what they see looking at this flower.

In the Victorian era this flower was associated with winning and gifting this flower meant you were determined to win something or someone’s affections.

They symbolism of foolishness is derived from is looks of a court jester’s hat.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.
