👀NEW DESIGN👀

This is the second and last of my lily of the valley designs. I hope you can see the differences, it is hard for me to pick a favorite for sure. Next week another tulip design!

Modest Maia (pronounced My Ya) – this is a bouquet of lily of the valley flowers and muscari (grape hyacinths)

Maia is the beloved, modest, tenderhearted Greek Earth Goddess of spring, warmth and fruition. She is one of the stars in the constellation Pleiades also known as the seven sisters. She was so beloved the month of May is named after her and it is beloved that the lily of the valley flower was created in her honor. Maia, like myself, is more comfortable in the wilderness away for the complications and commotion of society.

The Lily of the valley has been associated with many symbolisms the most prominent is “return to happiness. This delicate fragrant flower is strongly associated with chastity, purity, joy, luck and modesty. This modest and pure flower is mentioned in the bible 15 times, is embodied in Christian lore and folklore, May Day (May 1st which happens to be my birthday), weddings and many other celebrations. Speaking of weddings British royals brides have had this beloved flower in their bouquet including Princess Eugenie, The Duchess of Sussex Megan Markle, The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cornwall and of course Princess Diana.

The lily of the valley is known as the flower of the fairies and the tiny bells are used as cups. This delicate flower is planted to protect your gardens from evil spirits and is a charm to ward off witches’ spells.

The muscari like the lily of the valley is a delicate flower but is a symbol of supremacy and confidence, and also represents mystery and imagination. The Greeks eat them pickled as they are an excellent source of vitamin C and high in antioxidants. Please do not try this yourself! Blue hyacinths symbolize sincerity, and in Christian faith it is a symbol of wisdom and harmony. Look closely to find them depicted in religious artwork!

The muscari is indigenous to Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. This flower is synonymous with the Greek Goddess Demeter, protector of women so this flower was often interlaced in bridal circlets.

Tulip Mania

👀NEW DESIGN👀

Happy day to all of you! I hope this new tulip design brings you some cheer and is a bright moment in your day! ☀️💛

🌷 TULIP MANIA 🌷 - The yellow tulip and one time symbolized being hopelessly in love but has transitioned and now embodies cheerful thoughts and sunshine. The popular variegated tulip symbolize beautiful eyes. It is said the velvet black center of the tulip represents a lover’s heart.

Tulips symbolize flawless love. The meaning comes from a Turkish legend of a Princess and commoner who fall in love, and of course as these stories usually go, her father, the king, does not approve and demands the commoner prove his love and worthiness by building an enormous canal. It takes him several years to complete and when he is digging the final touches to the canal the king lies to him and says the princess has passed. The man is so distraught he takes his own life. The princess learns of this tragedy and goes to the canal where her love to his life and takes her own to be with him. Red tulips began to grow where their blood soaked the ground.

We often refer to tulips as “Dutch Tulips” but they actually derive from Persia and Turkey. The word tulip actually translates to turban. The flowers were worn in turbans Europeans by mistake called the flowers tulips (turbans).

Did you know this delightful bulb was once the cause of what economist say was the first economic bubble in Holland? The tulips were so desired they were bought at prices 10 times their worth! Then soon the market was flooded with them and they were no longer sought out as passionately and the prices bottomed out and there was a market crash of sorts.

☯️ Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.

A NEW DESIGN!  This is a popular flower in my designs and I wanted a design that incorporated both the blue and the pink forget me not.  I will have another design that I created from the same photo but a different symmetry.

Indelible Impression - The Forget-Me-Not flower represents true faithful love, fond memories and hope.  It is also a flower essence of the heart chakra.

The dainty forget me not was also a favorite flower of Princess Diana.  Earl Spenser, Diana’s brother, gifted her these flowers when they were young and she continued to favorite them throughout her life.  These flowers have been subtle tributes to the “Queen of Hearts”, in royal wedding bouquets and backgrounds in photos.  These flowers are included in the Kensington memorial garden for this beloved princess.

In Christian folklore God named these dainty blue beauties forget me nots because when he asked the timid flower her name, she was so shy that she told him softly whispered, “I have forgotten”  God named these flowers forget me not so she and no one would forget this delicate beautiful flower.

Medieval German folklore declares that devoted couples garnished themselves with forget-me-nots to pledge they would never forget each other when separated.

There is another German legend on how this flower received it’s name.  God had completed the creation of earth, He named each animal and plant.  God had thought He had named everything when a diminutive voice next to where He was standing asked, “What about me?”  He kneeled down and held the sweet, delicate and dainty plant and said, “I shall never forget you again therefore your name shall be Forget Me Not”

There is a third German myth about a couple taking a romantic stroll along the Danube River.  They spot the beautiful blue blooms of the forget-me-not.  The handsome and romantic gent attempts to pick a bouquet for his love, but tragically slips and is swept away by the river’s fierce current.  As he is carried away by the current he cries out to her, “Forget me not my love!”  It is believed this is how the flower was named.

Twentieth century German Freemasons replaced the square and compass symbol with the forget me not to avoid revealing themselves to the Nazis.  You can still see the forget me not used in combination with the square and compass insignia.   It also signified to always remember of the impoverished.

King Henry the IV, banished in 1398, embraced the forget me not as his crest and axiom.  The flower and name were embellished on his knight’s collars and to show support of him his followers adorned them as well.  Legend has it that in the aftermath of the clash at Waterloo left a blood saturated field which metamorphosed into a field of forget me nots.

The war dead are memorialized with forget me nots in Newfoundland.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.
