Monarch Release

MY MISSION TO SAVE THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY!

I thought I would share with you what my progress is this year to increase the monarch population.   I have released twenty six monarch butterflies since the beginning of the season.  I am nurturing 139 caterpillars with about 36 of them already in their chrysalis’s!  I found 30 caterpillars in my butterfly gardens just yesterday!  Here are a few captures of monarchs in my flower gardens.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has now designated the beloved Monarch Butterfly as an endangered species!  I have been nurturing these precious souls for years.  I do not use pesticides in my yard or anywhere for that matter, I grow 3 types of milkweed all over my property and I encourage dandelions, clover and other wildflowers on my property.  I also grow several flowers for our precious pollinators!

I am disappointed and astonished that Frohn Township where I live is resisting my request for them to stop cutting down the milkweed down my dirt road.  Why the feel the need to do this on a road that is barely maintained, we are lucky if they grade it, insist on mowing a small three foot strip of land that is directly next to woods!  What makes this worse is I live in a state game refuge.  To me this policy of mowing the side of 1 mile stretch of dirt road is a waste of time and money and worse yet terrible for our pollinators!

Why should we care?  Well not only would it be a shame to lose this stunning butterfly, it is a danger to our ecosystem!  There are other wildlife species that depend on our lovely monarch!  We are the major cause for the decline in population because we are taking away the monarchs one and only food source milk weed!  Milkweed actually spells so sweet and pleasant too!

Golden Glee Before After

TA DA! Another new design!

Golden Glee – This is a Clouded Sulphur Butterfly on “birds foot” blooms.  This butterfly is named “Sulphur” due to its yellow color.  Sadly, this butterfly only lives for a short few days. The “bird’s foot” wildflower is a trefoil that grows wild on my property.  I love this flower as it is so bright and cheerful and the pollinators love it!  They grow in huge clusters and absolutely light up my yard!

Yellow butterfly specifically symbolize happiness and creativity.  This butterfly encourages us to cherish life and all of it’s spectacular treasures!

The butterfly is the Celtic Zodiac for those born between September 30th thru October 27th.  Those born under this sign are said to be extremely social hence the phrase, “Social Butterfly”.   They are known to have a joyful personality and a cheery disposition.  They are intuitively empathetic and people are drawn to their positive aura.

The Mandarin Chinese word for butterfly is "hu-tieh". "Tieh" means "70 years", therefore butterflies have become a symbol for a long life.

If a butterfly crosses your path, it means good luck.

In the Japanese culture butterflies are thought to be representative of young maidens and marital bliss.

In ancient Greek the word for butterfly is "Psyche", which translated means "soul". Butterflies also symbolize: Resurrection, Transition, Celebration, Lightness, Time and Soul.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.  Ch’I is a river pristine energy, a power that not only flows through us, but unites our tangible self, our body, thoughts, emotions and sensations to our intangible, our spirit and consciousness.  Ch’I is the crux of our pure self.

Delightful Devotion

WOWZA A NEW DESIGN!

Delightful Devotion – This is a bouquet of “King Tut” blue sweet peas that I have grown in my garden.  They are a special hybrid just absolutely gorgeous I love them in the center there is just a hint of pink!  I have placed these in a bouquet with blue and pink forget me nots, and a royal blue bachelor button.  All of which are in my flower garden.  I have been struggling to find the design that inspires me and I believe I have created 2 design similar but just can’t choose.

DID YOU KNOW

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.  Ch’I is a river pristine energy, a power that not only flows through us, but unites our tangible self, our body, thoughts, emotions and sensations to our intangible, our spirit and consciousness.  Ch’I is the crux of our pure self.

Sweet Pea symbolism - The fragrant sweet pea is the April birth flower.  The sweet pea symbolizes blissful pleasure due to their vivid colors.  I can personally attest to this as I am filled with delight when I pass by these beauties!  Sweet peas are also given as a thank you gift because the also symbolize gratitude and devotion.  Legend has it that sweet peas entice people and inspire new friendships.

The Forget-Me-Not flower represents true faithful love, fond memories and hope. It is also a flower essence of the heart chakra.
