Monday Awakening

Mellow Monday – May this day bring to you a fresh and inspired start to the week!

Monday Awakening this design is of a Gerbera daisy,
Nemesia, fern and on the outer edge a Tiger Lily.

The daisy represents purity, innocence, loyal love, beauty,
patience and simplicity and new beginnings. The Gerbera daisy, the fifth most
popular flower in the world, has the added symbolism of cheerfulness!

The word daisy comes from the Old English word dægeseage,
meaning "day's eye". The daisy was thusly named because at night the
petals close over the yellow center and during the day they re-open or
“awaken”. This is how the fun saying “as fresh as a daisy” was created; it
infers that someone had a restful sleep.

There is a Celtic Legend about the death of an infant. God
sprinkled daisies all over the world when an infant passed to ease the parents
suffering and to cheer them up.

The daisy is the sacred flower of the Norse Goddess of love,
beauty and fertility, Freya. The daisy embodies childbirth, motherhood and new
beginnings.

The daisy is actually two flowers in one, called a composite
flower. The yellow center is called the disc floret and the outer petals are
the ray floret. Because they are actually two flower in one, blending it such
beautiful harmony the also symbolize true love!

Nemesia is Greek for “she who administers justice”.

Ferns symbolize sincerity towards others. It can also be a
symbol of magic, fascination, confidence, shelter, discretion, reverie and a
secret bond of love. Ferns are prehistoric living before the age of the
dinosaurs!

Tiger lily signifies wealth and pride.
