Demure Delight

Demure Delight – A white daisy and purple pansy on a bed of lilac blooms.

Daisies symbolize innocence and purity. The daisy is also the birth flower for April.

In Norse mythology, the daisy is Freya’s sacred flower. Freya is the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, and as such the daisy came by symbolize childbirth, motherhood, and new beginnings. Daisies are sometimes given to congratulate new mothers.

The daisy is actually two flowers in one, called a composite flower.  The yellow center is called the disc floret and the outer petals are the ray floret.  Because they are actually two flower in one, blending it such beautiful harmony the also symbolize true love!

Pansy’s symbolize thoughtfulness, remembrance and love.  The pansy is also considered a flower of remembrance, togetherness and union. Pansies help evoke fond memories of our loved ones. It is believed if a pansy is placed over someone’s eyes while sleeping, upon waking that person will fall in love with the first person to appear.

Lilacs symbolize the first emotions of love. The Celtics regarded the lilac as “magical” due to their incredibly intoxicating fragrance.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.  Chi is a river pristine energy, a power that not only flows through us, but unites our tangible self,  our body, thoughts, emotions and sensations to our intangible our spirit and consciousness.  Chi is the crux of our pure self.
