Delightful Devotion Before And After

Delightful Darling – A bouquet of daisies, pansies & columbine on a bed of ferns.

A yellow daisy flower represents friendship, joy, cheerfulness and well wishes. The daisy is also the birth flower for April.

The word daisy comes from the Old English word dægeseage, meaning "day's eye".   The daisy was thusly named because at night the petals close over the yellow center and during the day they re-open or “awaken”.  This is how the fun saying “as fresh as a daisy” was created; it infers that someone had a restful sleep.

The word daisy also made its way into other slang words and phrases. In the 1800s, the phrase “ups-a-daisy” was commonly used to encourage children to get up when they fell. This eventually transformed into “oopsy daisy” or “whoops-a-daisy” — an exclamation after a stumble or mistake.

The daisy is actually two flowers in one, called a composite flower.  The yellow center is called the disc floret and the outer petals are the ray floret.  Because they are actually two flower in one, blending it such beautiful harmony the also symbolize true love!

Pansy’s symbolize thoughtfulness, remembrance and love.  The pansy is also considered a flower of remembrance, togetherness and union. Pansies help evoke fond memories of our loved ones. It is believed if a pansy is placed over someone’s eyes while sleeping, upon waking that person will fall in love with the first person to appear.

The columbine symbolizes love, desire, faith, hope, charity, justice, temperance, prudence and fortitude.

Ferns symbolize sincerity towards others. It can also be a symbol of magic, fascination, confidence, shelter, discretion, reverie and a secret bond of love.  Ferns are prehistoric living before the age of the dinosaurs!

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow
