The owl is a messenger of secrets , and related to sorcerers, seers and shamans in West African and Aboriginal Australian cultures. Medieval Europeans folklore tells of the owl’s secret identity being a witch ‍or wizard ‍️.

I wonder if this is why Harry Potter depicts the owl as a messenger and able to communicate with sorcerers?
