Periwinkle Parade

πŸ‘€NEW DESIGNπŸ‘€

Periwinkle Parade ️ – This is a “Melissa Blue” butterfly, obviously one that I am particularly fond of πŸ˜‰ ! Melissa Blue is her higher classification the lower classification being a Karner Blue. They are a teensy little butterfly that sadly is endangered in my region of the U.S. Their “host plant” where eggs will be laid and will feed the larvae is the lupine if you would like to encourage more to your yard!

Blue is the scarcest color in nature. Plants have no blue pigments, actually the blue you do see in nature is not a pigment at all!

Animals that display blue color is due to the way the molecules are structured and how they interact with light. The molecules are shaped is such a way that it bends the light to a specific wavelength when it reaches our eye that we see blue. Change the shape or what is filling the space between them and we would see something different. Blue feathers and even our blue eyes all have to due with the refraction of light. There is only one exception of a true blue occurring in nature and that is the Obrina Olivewing butterfly and it is said that less than 10% of 280,000 species of flowering plants produce blue flowers, and those plants are not using a blue pigment but a red pigment. It takes the mixing of pigments, ph levels and light refraction that creates the color blue. As a matter of fact bluebells, morning glories and even hydrangeas have no true blue pigment!

The butterfly as I have mentioned symbolizes a person’s soul 🧚‍♂️. In ancient Greek the word for butterfly is "Psyche", which translated means "soul". Psyche is the Greek Goddess of souls️. Butterflies are believed to represent one’s essence that encompasses their past, present and future. They also represent good luck and joy. Butterflies are believed to be grantors of wishes. Setting a butterfly free you are to place a wish on their wings and they will carry that wish to the heavens to be granted.

The butterfly is the Celtic Zodiac for those born between September 30th thru October 27th. Those born under this sign are said to be extremely social hence the phrase, “Social Butterfly”. They are known to have a joyful personality and a cheery disposition. They are intuitively empathetic and people are drawn to their positive aura.

The Mandarin Chinese word for butterfly is "hu-tieh". "Tieh" means "70 years", therefore butterflies have become a symbol for a long life.

Perky Persona

The yellow tulip and one time symbolized being hopelessly in love but has transitioned and now embodies cheerful thoughts and sunshine. The popular variegated tulip symbolize beautiful eyes. It is said the velvet black center of the tulip represents a lover’s heart.

Tulips symbolize flawless love. The meaning comes from a Turkish legend of a Princess and commoner who fall in love, and of course as these stories usually go, her father, the king, does not approve and demands the commoner prove his love and worthiness by building an enormous canal. It takes him several years to complete and when he is digging the final touches to the canal the king lies to him and says the princess has passed. The man is so distraught he takes his own life. The princess learns of this tragedy and goes to the canal where her love to his life and takes her own to be with him. Red tulips began to grow where their blood soaked the ground.

We often refer to tulips as “Dutch Tulips” but they actually derive from Persia and Turkey. The word tulip actually translates to turban. The flowers were worn in turbans Europeans by mistake called the flowers tulips (turbans).

Did you know this delightful bulb was once the cause of what economist say was the first economic bubble in Holland? The tulips were so desired they were bought at prices 10 times their worth! Then soon the market was flooded with them and they were no longer sought out as passionately and the prices bottomed out and there was a market crash of sorts.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i.
